Iranian short ‘Legrand’ to vie in Jordan

Iranian ‘Legrand’ is to compete at the 2020 Karama filmfest in Jordan.

Iranian short flick ‘Legrand’ has been selected to compete at the 11th edition of the Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan.

Directed by Ali Shah-Mohammadi, the short film narrates the story of an Iranian university student who is studying filmmaking in Brussels.

Looking at the Brussels’ tramway, the student remembers her childhood memories.

The short flick was filmed in Tehran and Brussels and some of the cast and crew members are Belgians.

Jessica Alba, Ahmad Tavakkoli, and Iman Hamidi are among the cast members of the film.

The Karama festival hosts a wide range of works in different genres from around the world.

As written on the Karama’s website, “The festival in its 11th edition this year will select human rights films on topics of memory and archive that are uniquely significant to the Arab region; films that document or depict the changes and transformations that took place in the past year across the region and across the rest of the world, tackling topics of social justice for the elderly and their right-to-healthcare”.

The 2020 edition of the festival is slated for December 10-17.
